Directors Welcome Message As the caretaker of Greene County's Building and Grounds. The department maintains the County's properties in such a manner that promotes attractive surroundings for the County's residents and visitors to receive services while respecting the historic and environmental concerns of these unique lands and structures that have been entrusted to our care. We also look to providing a comfortable and safe work environment for the County's employees.

The Buildings and Grounds Department is responsible for the maintenance of all the County owned or leased locations in the towns of Athens, Cairo, Catskill, Coxsackie, Greenville, Hunter and Windham. The department currently has a Superintendent and Administrative Assistant as well as fifteen employees working two shifts covering the hours of 7:00a.m. to 10:00p.m. weekdays with building security checks on weekends and holidays. The department has an on-call employee for the jail and staff is available 24 hours a day for any other emergencies that may arise.
