Greene County Civil War Sesquicentennial Committee

To honor Greene County's participation in the Civil War and Commemorate the Sesquicentennial

The purpose of the Committee and this website is to bring attention to Greene County's participation in the Sesquicentennial Commemoration of the American Civil War.

Our committee was formed at the grass roots level to promote and develop a series of programs, encampments, displays, and exhibits utilizing both an educational theme along with a commemorative blend, honoring the citizens who sacrificed so much during New York's historic involvement in the Civil War.

Volunteers from Greene County filled the ranks of the 65th, 120th, and 156th Infantry Regiments, the 20th New York State Militia, the 5th and 25th Cavalry, the 5th and 15th New York Artillery, the 20th, 26th and 30th United States Colored Infantry, the 1st Engineers Regiment, Naval forces, and other organizations.

Honorary Chairs: Seward Osborn, Charles Swain, Ronald Tunison

Co Chairs: John Quinn, David Dorpfeld
